Meiosis

The relationship is built from definitions and conservation reasoning:
- List the outcomes and decide whether the events are independent.
- For independent events, the fraction satisfying both is the product of the individual fractions.
- Use addition instead when mutually exclusive routes can produce the same outcome.

Two independently inherited traits each show a 3/4 dominant-phenotype probability. What is the probability of both?
Answer: The probability is (3/4)(3/4)=9/16.
Investigation idea: Use cards or beads as alleles to simulate many crosses, then compare observed and expected ratios.
Common trap: Multiply only independent probabilities; linkage, epistasis, and small samples can disrupt simple ratios.
